The Carving Consortium is making a sheet of rubber stamps with the theme of "MailArt". I decided to try a couple of things and see if any of them would be acceptable. This was my third attempt. I first tracked down a photo of Auguste Rodin's sculpture entitled "The Thinker". With a little bit of manipulation, I converted it to a reasonable "1-bit color" profile image and overlaid the text. I heat transfered the laser print to the medium, put on my magnifier goggles and carved it entirely with a hobby razor knife. The lettering (font: Modern) is far from perfect, but I pleased with the overall result.
