My first nude carving [but not necessarily the first carving done while nude <grin>]. The image I used was a heavily tweaked version of a photograph by the amateur French photographer Theirry Aguiar. I carved it in the "standard" way by cutting out the image and leaving the surrounding "shadow" intending to print it with black ink on white stock. A printout was made on a laser printer and transfered to the block using acetone.

I find that one of the most recognizable forms in art is the nude. Seemingly, no matter how distorted or abstract the image, its' shape is usually perceived. I'm fairly pleased with this the way the woman turned out, although the candles could use some help (they don't seem "bright"). I am continually amazed that despite feelings that I really messed some aspect up during carving, it ends up looking so good.

I sized the carving to the standard ATC (Artist Trading Card) dimensions with the hope that maybe I could carve something that I could use in that way.
